Nettime

The Nettime mailing list was always a bit of a thorn in my side due to the prevalence if not dominance of male voices. That said, I’ve met people through the list that I would have never encountered otherwise. In the mid-nineties, Nettime was my primer to net(worked)-culture, a school of hard knocks. Through it, I became involved in the Next 5 Minutes and Read Me. As a list, it also gathered grassroots activists with diverse and intersecting social concerns and that was inspiring. Although I unsubscribed from the list ages ago, I have gratitude to those who have and continue to keep it running.  Thanks for teaching me both the generosity and ferocity of online communities.
